WOGE 79

Since the person who won WOGE 78, j, hasn't come forward for nearly a month here's WOGE 79.

Just to make this clear: I haven't won WOGE 78, I just want the game to keep going.

The rules:

Q: What is When on Google Earth?
A: It’s a game for archaeologists, or anybody else willing to have a go!

Q: How do you play it?
A: Simple, you try to identify the site in the picture.

Q: Who wins?
A: The first person to correctly identify the site, including its major period of occupation, wins the game.

Q: What does the winner get?

A: The winner gets bragging rights and the chance to host the next When on Google Earth on his/her own blog!

Here it is, WOGE 79:

Have fun and good luck!

As per Alun's suggestion here's a zoomed-out picture. I'm going to continue to zoom out or give hints (in the comments) until someone gets it:

  5. Hi Alun,

indeed I have, but I didn't think anyone paid any attention anymore...

  6. OK, this tip should enable you to solve it: we're dealing with a western Slavic structure

  7. The Slavs in question were Obotrites and probably Wagrians

  8. It's the 'Oldenburg Wall' 7th/8th century, the centre of power for the Abodrite tribe in the Wagrian region. we've popped in a few times over the past few months and your last hint finally got it for us...
